Citatio: M. Cammarosano (ed.), hethiter.net/: CTH 527.40.B (INTR 2021-03-10)
Cult inventory (CTH 527.40) Textual tradition
Basis of the edition The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary. Commentary Previous editions: Cammarosano 2018: 433-70. Collated (KBo 70.109, KUB 38.6, KUB 57.58, September 2012). B1 i 27′ / A1 i 39′: on Hittite gurzipant- add to the literature cited in Cammarosano 2018: 463 Beckman 1995: 29 fn. 19. A1 iv 30′: Correct Cammarosano 2018: 461 and translate D10 LÍL as “Storm god of the Countryside,” not “Ištar of the Countryside.” A1 iv 36′: The form “EGI]R-an tar-nu-u-wa-i,” previously considered a mistaken Hittite form (Cammarosano 2018: 469-70), is to be interpreted instead as regular Luwian āppan tarnuwai “shall release,” a Heischefutur equivalent to Hittite āppan tarnumaš “to be released,” a formula which is sometimes found in colophons of cult inventories and other texts (kindly communicated by C. Melchert). For the leveling of the irregular paradigm of tarna- as tarnuwa-, compare tūwa- “to put.” CC BY-SA 4.0 Michele Cammarosano | Produced as part of the research project Critical edition, digital publication, and systematic analysis of the Hittite cult-inventories (CTH 501-530), funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) – project number 298302760, 2016–2020. |
